The RF85mm F1.2 L USM DS employs DS (Defocus Smoothing) Coating technology on two lens element surfaces, which has the effect of blocking light by gradually lowering light transmittance from the center of the lens to the periphery. The effect of the DS Coating combines with the lens’ fast f/1.2 maximum aperture to deliver large blurring with smooth edges, resulting in beautiful, smooth expression of out-of-focus areas.
