Viltrox AF 26mm f/2.8 Evo
Staff Verdict
This compact prime from Viltrox will be well loved by Sony E-Mount shooters who historically had few options for compact primes. With great sharpness even at 61mp and good performance on APS-C cameras where it has a 40mm equivalent focal length, this can serve as a great street and travel option despite a few fair tradeoffs.
- Compact
- Sharp
- Decent corner performance
- Really poor coatings resulting in lots of flaring and coma. Even during the day the dramatic amount of flaring can cause contrast issues.
Street and travel photographers, especially those on Sony E bodies who were having trouble finding a good compact prime.
Anyone shooting astro or highly optically demanding photos or those who shoot at night often. Nikon shooters should prefer the Native DX 24mm f1.7 or the 40mm f/2
