It's pretty clear that this lens is targeted to sell as a kit lens with the Z5ii and other lower price full frame Z bodies with its lower price point and generous zoom range. While it may seem at first that this is a bit of a mediocre lens, it's actually may be the best value option for those looking to push their budget to get onto full frame Z cameras without spending on the more premium lenses. Until now there wasn't a standard zoom option for full frame Z cameras at this price point.

Those looking for a lens to buy separately may want to look elsewhere though. For just a few hundred more dollars you can get the NIKKOR Z 24-70 f/4 S which is an incredible budget option for a standard zoom with excellent sharpness, and for a bit more than that you can find the NIKKOR Z 24-120 f/4 S which is an excellent option for landscape or travel photographers.
